IM 2017

FlyingScotsman wrote:
The dates have been out for ages, just had to wait until the vote was taken on what changes the players wanted,

Since we now have to use 3, we had to work out a system along with asking the clubs if they wanted involved with the new system along with new sponsorship, happy to say that all clubs who have came back to me are happy with this, a couple still to reply but I will go along the lines that they to are going to agree, if not only small changes needed.

The new system will be two clubs on the Saturday getting 96 players, playing two games down to 24 at each, these players will go to the third venue on the Sunday starting at 10 am.

The third venue will also have match's on the Saturday, 64 players will attend there and play 3 match's taking them down to 8 players, these players will again attend the same venue on the Sunday but at a later time than the others who are coming from the other two venues.

This way the 48 players from the other two venues will be playing on tables that they never used the day before and so no advantage to the ones who played there the day before.

56 players in total will attend the Sunday venue and we should finish the event around the 8/9 pm mark.

Now down to the venues;

As I said previously all IMs will remain in the central belt and by that I mean from Fife to Paisley, with the exception of one each year that will move around depending on suitable venues being found.

These are not yet in order but they are the ones we will be using in 2017.

Shandon,.Edinburgh.Corner Pocket, Dalkeith & Cawburn, Livingston

Pennies, Falkirk Cawburn, Livingston & The Red Triangle, Cumbernauld

Hustlers Rosyth, Styx Kirkaldy the Shandon Edinburgh

Red Triangle Cumbernauld, Cue Here Airdrie & Pockets Paisley

Pennies Falkirk, Corner Pocket Dalkeith & Hustlers Rosyth

Shotz Arbroath/Dundee plus depending on enough tables Old Mill Dundee or Styx Kircaldy. [This is the one outside of the central belt this year]

As I said they are not in any order just yet, I will talk to all the venues and try my best to give them the dates that suit them, the clubs for the Sunday also have to be decided but again that will also depend on their WiFi/loading they have in their club/s.

The SPA are spending a lot of money upgrading their streaming equipment so that starting next year we will have have better coverage along with commentary as well, again we need the best venues for this to happen.

I know that this is not the way I wanted to put it all out to our members but time is going on and the entries have to be in for the SPA meeting on December the 4th, so better getting most of this out so that the IM reps can at least give their players this information.

Dates for the Mick McGoldrick IM final for 2017 are as follows;

4/5th March
8/9th April
24/25th June
26/27th August
23/24th September
25/26th November

Entries and Fees are due to the SPA on Sunday 4th December. £30

I am only posing this information for the new IM/SPA rep for Motherwell (no IM/SPA rep has been elected) as I am only running the current events to an end which will see 2016 through, after that I will have no role within Motherwell District Pool League with regards the IM's

We have now got 2 people who are up for running the IMs John Bryce and Gary Parvin Also Stevie Brown has shown an interest in helping so looks like we are sorted for that just to let players know that your IM money has to be paid to the SPA by the 4th of December so start getting it to john Bryce so he can bank transfer before the deadline

There's a difference between us. You think the people of this country exist to provide you with position. I think your position exists to provide those people with freedom. And I go to make sure that they have it.
